Spice Up Your Meal Prep With Meal Delivery Services
Meal prepping can be time-consuming and requires time to think ahead. Sometimes, even though you are doing your best, you might find yourself without any cooked food – and no time to prepare a meal. Sounds familiar?
Well, you’re not alone, trust me! People sometimes think that because I work as a dietitian, I always have a home-cooked, well-balanced and yummy meal at hand. However, I am a person like anyone else and life can just get in the way. This is why I love to sometimes opt for pre-cooked meals.
So, without further ado, let me introduce you to four plant-based meal delivery services or ready-to-eat meals that I’ve personally tried and why I would recommend them to you, too.
1. Splendid Spoon
“Save Time, Eat Well, Feel Your Best.” Well, who doesn’t agree with that slogan? With Splendid Spoon, you first choose a plan for the week, which you then can of course customize to fit your personal taste – and that’s it. Now all you need to do is relax, sit back and wait for the food to be delivered to your home.
The price per meal can vary from plan to plan, but you can get breakfast and lunch for 5 days starting at $100 for example, which is about $10 per meal. Plus, you can skip or cancel meals really easily, and shipping is free, too!
From fresh, fruity smoothies to hearty stews or spaghetti and meatballs, the options are seemingly endless – and naturally gluten-free. On their website, you can also choose meals based on your dietary needs or personal preferences. And in addition to that, all their packaging is 100% recyclable: Splendid Spoon is great for you and the planet.
All of their meals are under 400 calories, so if you’re a big eater or have a higher caloric intake, then you might want to adjust how many portions you’re getting per meal or bulk up the portions. I personally love their dragon fruit smoothie as well as their spaghetti and meatballs. But all their meals are so flavorful and really easy to heat up.
If you want to find out more, check out Splendid Spoon and order your first-ever meal delivery service today.
2. Daily Harvest
Daily Harvest is another great service to make your life easier. “Actually healthy. Undeniably delicious.”, they say. Yes, please! Their plant-based and gluten-free ready-to-eat meals are not only tasty but also good for your body and the planet. They focus on recyclable and compostable packaging, which will reduce your carbon footprint even more. Plus, 95% of their ingredients are organic!
The prices vary from meal to meal and Daily Harvest allows you to combine your meals based on personal taste. For that, you can choose a small, medium or large order with either 9, 14 or 24 items total. While shipping is free, each meal can range from $6.79 for oatmeal bowls to $11.99 for their gluten-free bakes. Once you’ve chosen a plan, you customize it with the meals that you’d like to get and that’s it – your food will be on its way to you shortly.
If you are only looking for prepared food, then some meals like their smoothies, which you have to blend at home, might not be for you. Also, their products come frozen, so make sure you have plenty of space in the freezer!
What is really special about Daily Harvest, however, is that they offer snacks or lattes as well, so you can really get all of your daily foods and drinks from them. I know I am not going to say no to a turmeric latte with some hazelnut and chocolate bites.

3. Casa Verde
Ready-to-eat and plant-based? This is what you can get a Casa Verde – or in, their words: “Sustainable plant-based goodness”. This delivery service provides delicious Latin food right to your doorstep. In only 60 seconds, you’ll have a tasty, plant-based meal ready to eat. More convenience is hardly possible!
Sometimes, less is more. That’s what the people from Casa Verde thought, too, by providing only 4 different products. But who needs more, when those are super well-balanced and tasty at the same time, right? Exactly! Their four products are: Garbanzo al Pastor, Coconut Chowder, Lentil Mole and Red Bean Pozole.
I’ve tried them all and found them full of flavor. At about $3.66 per package, the products are budget-friendly, too. You can mix and match or buy them in bigger portions reaching from 12 to 24 packs. Each package comes in 2 servings, but you might find yourself eating the whole pack by yourself – and I wouldn’t blame you! Plus, shipping is free, too.
While Casa Verde is your most budget-friendly solution listed, it is also the service with the least number of options. So, if you are looking for a service to provide you with meals week after week, you might want to look for an additional service to mix it up occasionally. Who wouldn’t say no to tasty Latin food day in day out, am I right?
But Casa Verde doesn’t only provide you with tasty meals, they also give back – for every case sold, they donate four meals to help nourish the Latinx communities. Isn’t that great? So, go to their website and get their beautiful Latin flavors into your own home.

4. Eat Brave
“Modern Breakfast for Busy Humans” – who doesn’t relate to that? Eat Brave offers protein-packed breakfast options that contain about 20g of protein per serving. These overnight oats are going to become your new favorite way to start your day. They are also a great companion on your hike or travel and will keep you full for a long time!
Prepared in only 30 seconds, these convenient yet nourishing overnight oats will be the star of your morning. It won’t get boring, as they have five different flavors, and you can enjoy all of them both hot and cold. To get started, you can either create your own variety of products, get a monthly subscription box (with cheaper pricing, as you order more products) or try their starter bundle.
For about $4.50 – $5.00 per meal, the price is hard to beat, too. If you order over $45 worth of products, they’ll add free shipping on top. What’s great about their products is that they won’t take up any space in your freezer or fridge, as you can easily store them in your pantry. Aside from their easy breakfasts, they also offer nut butters and breakfast jars, so that you can easily have breakfast on the go, too.
If you are looking for a daily breakfast for a whole month, five different flavors might not seem like enough for you. So, you can either look at combining Eat Brave with another delivery service or perhaps pimp up your oats yourself by using different spices, a variety of dairy-free milks as well as changing toppings.
