YESS!! Read that again!
The start of a new year brings with it fad diets, resets, and restrictions after the festive season all of which are a trap bc it’s only fueling a sh*tty relationship with food and yourself!
So, this is a reminder, that just because it’s a new year, it does *not* mean you have to change your body and listen to all the diet obsessed media content preying on your insecurities!
This year, you can let go of the diet mentality. Here are some better New Year’s Resolutions to adopt:
- This year, you can learn to respect and appreciate yourself.
- This year, you can rewrite how you think about yourself.
- This year, YOU CAN!
Another way to think about this year’s resolutions is to make them positive. Think about what you’re doing MORE of or ADDING into your life rather than what you are subtracting from it or restricting yourself from. Here are some examples.
- Instead of “Losing weight” focus on “eating more plants” or “doing more exercise that I enjoy” (like walking!)
- Instead of “eating LESS sugar” focus on “eating MORE fruit”
- Instead of “Stressing LESS” focus on “MORE mindfulness and self-care activities”
These are just examples but it’s a great idea to change our perception this year and focus on the positive things in life. I’d love to hear what your resolutions are!
Eating more plants can come with its challenges. There’s a lot of nutrition noise out there, everyone has an opinion, and it can be confusing to figure out what works best for YOU. Working through these challenges and learning how to easily incorporate more plant-based foods into your diet and lifestyle can be helpful.
Working with a plant-based dietitian to guide you through your unique journey and surrounding yourself with other like-minded people who are on a similar journey can be monumental. When you join my nutrition coaching program, you’ll get a highly customized, one-on-one experience to help you confidently and sustainably eat foods that taste good and make you feel good.
