Obviously I think there are lots of reasons to go plant based. BUT there are some serious health benefits by having more plants in your life! One of them is heart disease…which is a big concern in the US…it’s the number one killer!
But HOW does plant based actually help reduce heart disease:
- High Blood Pressure: A plant-based diet, rich in potassium, improves blood pressure
- High Cholesterol: High high-fiber foods can help lower cholesterol
- Atherosclerosis: Diets rich in saturated fat and cholesterol can cause plaque buildup in the arteries, restricting blood flow
- Inflammation: Plant-based diets can help reduce inflammation, which can lead to heart disease and other conditions
- Eating plant-based benefits your heart health because the food you’re eating contains no (or very little) dietary cholesterol, very little saturated fat, and abundance of fiber
Vegetarian, especially vegan, diets are associated with a healthier cardiovascular profile (1)
Research shows that a plant-based diet doesn’t just prevent heart disease but that it can manage and sometimes even reverse it!!
Did you know about these CRAZY benefits?!
