Have you been thinking about going plant-based? Are you curious to see if eating more plants can positively impact your life? To make this shift sustainable, I want to share my favorite steps to take when wanting to switch to a more plant-based lifestyle.
1. Take it one step at a time
It’s okay to take things slow, rather than going fully plant-based right away. This can make it much more sustainable! Start by having one plant-centered meal or snack each day (you may already be doing this) and continuing further when you feel confident and comfortable. It doesn’t have to be a race. I took three years to go fully plant-based
2. Make your go-to meals plant-based
Turning your favorite foods like burgers, pasta, or pizza into delicious plant-based options is a great way to keep around the foods you love but with a twist. Anything can be made plant-based these days so you can continue eating the foods you’re familiar with, just in a plant-forward manner.
3. Try a new veggie or fruit each week
The variety within plant-based eating is endless. Whether you add a new veggie in by roasting it, adding it to soups, or blending it into veggie patties, trying new foods can add an array of nutrients to your life plus, some delicious flavor!
4. Look for plant-centered options when you eat out
Nowadays, lots of restaurants offer delicious plant-based dishes. Instead of choosing your usual, scroll through the menu and try switching it up.
5. Have fun with it!
Try new dessert recipes or browse the vegan section at your grocery store. And, take note of what you’re already eating that’s plant-forward. Keep an open mind and focus on all the foods you’re adding in, finding joy in eating new foods to promote healthier and happier you!
I didn’t mention *planning* but most of y’all know that is a crucial piece to this puzzle if you’re transitioning to a plant-based diet. Fail to plan and you plan to… fail.
